Neonatal care and monitoring are critical components of healthcare that focus on the health and well-being of newborns, particularly during the first 28 days of life, a period known as the neonatal period. During which newborns are particularly vulnerable and hence, proper care and monitoring significantly reduce mortality rates, promote healthy development, and build a strong foundation for lifelong health. Neonatal resuscitation is another critical skill for healthcare professionals, particularly those working in maternity and neonatal care settings, where they will be expected to provide immediate response during emergencies such as asphyxia, prematurity, unresponsiveness, etc. In India, the age-standardized CVD death rate is 272 per 100,000 population, that is higher than the global average of 235 per 100,000. SCD, a type of cardiac arrest, is a rapidly growing concern as the survivability is very low out of hospital settings due to lack of CPR proficient bystanders and lack of awareness among the community. Hands-On CPR is an essential skill for healthcare professionals that can save lives and improve patient outcomes. Training in HOCPR not only enhances individual competencies but also fosters a culture of safety, preparedness, and continuous learning within healthcare organizations The department of Community Health Nursing organized a comprehensive two day In-service Education at College of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur on 26th and 27th of March. A total of 53 members were in attendance including the students of 4th year Bsc Nursing from College of Nursing. The Event aimed ti provide in-depth knowledge and training regarding Neonatal care & Monitoring at birth, Neonatal Resuscitation and Hands-on CPR. The objective of this education and training were - To enhance knowledge and skills in newborn care and monitoring immediately after birth. To provide hands-on training for Neonatal Resuscitation and CPR. To improve the overall competency of Nursing Personnel in managing newborn emergencies. The program was held over two consecutive days, accommodating two batches of nursing personnel. Under the expert guidance Dr. Binu Matthew, Professor cum Principal of College of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur, esteemed members from the Department of Neonatology and Department of Physiology, AIIMS Raipur, participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum that combined theoretical knowledge with practical skills. On 26th March, the first day of the event was conducted where 27 participants successfully registered and on 27th March, the second day, 26 participants successfully registered for the In-service Education and training at 9:00 am. Prior to the start of first session the participants were provided an online pre-test questionnaire for assessing previous knowledge regarding newborn care and monitoring, neonatal resuscitation and HOCPR. Dr. Binu Matthew, Professor cum Principal of College of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur addressed the gathering marking the start of the first session. The first session on 26th March was led by Dr. Rohit Anand, Assistant Professor of Department of Neonatology, who gave a brilliant presentation on Neonatal Care and monitoring and Neonatal Resuscitation, while also engaging the gathering via demonstrations and video examples. On March 27th, Dr. Falguni Padhi, Associate Professor and HOD of Department of Neonatology, delivered an expert session on Neonatal Care and Monitoring and Neonatal Resuscitation, featuring hands-on mannequin training and interactive Q&A. On 26th and 27th March the second session commenced at 11:30 a.m., led by Dr. Jayshree Ghate, Professor at Department of Physiology and coordinator of HOCPR. Dr. Ghate provided a comprehensive overview of the critical need for proficient individuals in India who can perform life-saving HOCPR during cardiac emergencies. During the hour long session, Dr. Ghate provided in-depth presentation on HOCPR detailing it's indication, patient selection, step-by-step techniques, accompanied by video examples and hands-on mannequin training to ensure participant proficiency. At the end of 2nd session on 26th and 27th March participants were provided the online post-test questionnaire followed by an online feedback form. Participants who have successfully registered and completed the pre-test and post-test were provided with an e- certificate for the training, marking their competence. Training healthcare professionals in Neonatal Care and monitoring and Neonatal Resuscitation not only enhances their skills and confidence but also contributes to improved health outcomes for infants and families. Similarly, training healthcare professionals in Hands-on CPR significantly increase the chances of survival for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest, increases the healthcare provider's confidence and provides them an opportunity to share awareness and knowledge with the community.
