AIIMS Raipur has been set up with a vision to be a centre of excellence in medical education, training, health care and research, influenced with the scientific culture, compassion for the sick and commitment to serve the underserved. The Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS, Raipur appreciates the dual challenges of serving in one of the most underprivileged regions in terms of child health infrastructure, along with the mandate of being the forerunner in terms of Pediatrics clinical care.

The Paediatric OPD was started on 5th June 2013 and IPD on August 2013. Our NICU and PICU were started on 12th January 2015. Pediatrics department currently has state of the art 6 bedded each of PICU and NICU with tertiary level health care, 20 bedded pediatric ward along with 24×7 emergency care services. The daily average OPD is 60-80 with daily special clinics in the afternoon. 

The department is committed to uplift the status of medical education of both undergraduates and postgraduates by the use of newer teaching methodology, so that the knowledge and skills acquired by them during their training period can be disseminated to the rest of the country. Meaningful scientific research is a key goal of department’s academics in synchrony with the Institute’s mandate.

Celebration of various important public health events: The department actively organizes and participate in various public health events like Sickle cell awareness program, world breast feeding week, ORS week etc and utilizes these opportunities for public awareness.
