 Department of Radiation Oncology

The Department of Radiation Oncology is one of the first departments commenced its services at AIIMS Raipur Chhattisgarh in 2013. It is positioned in the B1 block of basement at the Hospital Building of AIIMS Raipur. Radiation Therapy is one of the major modality of cancer treatment. It is the first department to provide solid tumor chemotherapy day care services. Our Radiation therapy facility is equipped with high end Linear accelerator (Elektra Versa HD) machine. By this machine, we can deliver various advancer radiation therapy treatments like 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, and stereotactic radiotherapy. This machine is recently upgraded with Hexapod 6D couch for better precision in patient positioning.

This department is also equipped with brachytherapy. We have the Elekta Nucletron microselectron HDR brachytherapy machine. With this we are able to do high dose rate brachytherapy for gynecological cancers and other malignancies.

The department is involved in post graduate teaching and training and clinical research. The PG-MD in Radiation Oncology course has started since September 2022. Advanced Diploma in Radiotherapy technology (ADRT) course has been started by October 2022. Also our department is involved in teaching of Nursing and MBBS students as well.
